Workplace live video streams use about 4.0 Mbps for broadcasts (uploads). For viewer downloads, the bandwidth consumed is proportional to the number of concurrent viewers on your network. As a rough estimate, you can plan for a requirement of 2.0 Mbps for each viewer of a high-quality stream, although the Workplace viewer can use a lower bitrate with lower video quality as required by network conditions.
Enterprise users can go live with higher quality and speed without taking up significant network bandwidth. When multiple users are watching the same live stream using Enterprise Live, the video is distributed in a peer-to-peer manner across the viewers. A broadcast of around 15-25 viewers can result in around 80%+ savings in the Internet bandwidth they share. Enterprise Live will work for desktop viewers.
